The newest and most common patio furniture covers are made from one of two materials – Vinyl or Polyester. An outdoor patio furniture cover can be purchased online but you may first want to order a swatch of these two materials to make your decision. Here are their main features.

• Vinyl is a very durable material from what is called PVC. It’s easy to wipe clean, is resistant to water and is usually inexpensive. A good vinyl patio cover will also have an air vent and be easy to put on and take off having an elastic bottom and not ties. Most vinyl covers will come in dark greens.

• Polyester patio covers are lightweight and made of very breathable fabric and will remain soft and pliable even in very cold weather. They are also water-resistant, clean easily and come with air vents. Most of the best covers will have elastic bottoms or draw strings. They are usually available in lighter colors like cream, beige or khaki. Polyester fabric patio furniture covers can be more expensive than the vinyl models; actually they can be almost double the price.

Since your patio furniture will consist of a patio table and chairs in sizes and shapes that you have selected previously, you may wonder if there is a universal size for table and chair covers that work for everything. There are some that are generic in size, but these may not fit well and therefore not protect your patio furniture adequately. They may also be difficult to put on and take off or there may be a corner or a design feature that may poke out of cause a tear in the cover.

If you know the name of your furniture there is probably a specific cover made exactly the right size to fir your patio table and chairs, and even umbrella covers for most tables that have an umbrella.

Here are some styles and prices of various specific patio covers:

• Bistro table and chair cover is a 30 inch cover for $30 in green vinyl or $60.in polyester khaki.

• Round bar table and chair cover with a 60 inch diameter and a 40 inch height in polyester khaki about $80 and in green vinyl about $60. Larger models are between $80 and $110.

• Round table and chair cover can be inexpensive at just over $40 to $60. Although the same thing for a square table and chair will be almost double the price.

• Oval table and chair covers are also pricier than the round covers. The prices start at $60 for a small one and go up to over $100.

• Rectangular bar table and chair cover, in a 50 inch height in a soft polyester outdoor cover will start at about $80 and go up to $150.

• A Picnic Table Cover that is about 76 inches in length and 62 inches wide and about 32 inches high will cost about $70.00 in polyester and about $45 in vinyl.

• Patio chair covers for low back and high back models and for odd shapes like barstools or bar chairs or club, wicker, rattan and even rocking chairs are all available in both vinyl and polyester starting at $15 for the smallest barstool covers to about $50.

You can also cover a stack of chairs instead of covering each individually.

• A stacking chair cover that is 48" high will be between $24 and $50.00 and for extra tall stacks add another $10.

• There are also specific covers for Adirondack chairs and wicker lounge chair covers for as little as $35, and just add an extra $5 for an oversize wicker chair cover.

• An outdoor patio rocking chair cover in a 42" height will cost from $35 to over $70 depending on the style and fabric or if the patio furniture cover you want is in vinyl.

• Lawn chair covers can be as little as $12 and there are lots of sizes.
