Carpet Shampoo
79If you know what professional carpet cleaners do and what products they use and what actually makes your carpet come clean then you too can select your carper shampooer based on facts or decide to do it yourself, and do it like a pro.
Dry Foam carpet Shampoo
High quality professional carpet shampooers are now using dry foam carpet cleaning technology. The reason it works is because of a chemical process called encapsulation which is a procedure that suspends dirt in tiny particle traps which then crystallizes and permits the carpet cleaner to lift them out of the carpet fiber with their extraction machine. It is a much more effective method than steam cleaning because it does not rely on getting the carpet wet and then removing by suction, but the carpet stays dry and therefore less prone to be a dirt trap afterward. Dry foam carpet shampooing is dependent upon knowing what you’re doing and less on machinery, which is why it’s something anyone can learn to do like a pro without calling for expensive carpet shampoo machines or hauling heavy carpet shampoo rental equipment around the house. And for certain types of carpets, like Berber carpet that has a looped pile, dry foam carpet shampoo is especially effective.
The Cons of Wet Carpet Shampoo Cleaners
It’s easy to call a professional carpet cleaner because we believe they will know how best not to damage the carpet fibers, or how not to leave the carpets in a shrunken state, and how to avoid problems with color bleeding or discoloration. However, many so called professionals still rely on steam carpet shampoo techniques and therefore all the problems we most fear are possible when we have steam cleaning carpet shampooing done by a pro carpet shampooer. And worse, steam cleaning carpets can have health issues caused from mould and mildew should the carpets not fully dry.
Just think about it. If you pour gallons and gallons of water, or were to drag your garden hose into the house and soak the carpet, even if most of it were somehow sucked out, there we would always be a small corner or a groove that takes longer to dry. And suppose that it rains a lot and there is a lot of humidity, the chances of your carpet drying completely in a short time is very slim. Meanwhile mould and mildew grow very fast and they love carpet.
Mould is a fungus that causes many allergic reactions even ones we are not aware of because we believe we have a cough or a cold and not an allergy. Damp carpets or improper carpet shampoo techniques can lead to being a potential health hazard especially for seniors and children. If you have had carpet shampooing recently done and then you have symptoms like coughing, wheezing, or headaches, you may actually have a carpet mould problem. And if anyone in the family has asthma, you should definitely not use water based carpet shampoos or carpet cleaning products that may leave moisture behind.
That is why you should learn to use dry foam carpet shampoo and not risk the chances of having moldy carpets in your home. Do it yourself like a pro or call the professionals, but go DRY!
